Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). As a young girl, she moved from London to Oxfordshire where she studied at the Dragon School. Emma was inspired to become an actor by the age of six. For several years, she attended the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing dance, acting and singing. At the age of 10, she had performed and taken the lead in various Stagecoach productions and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The movie adaptation from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was cast for the first time in 1999. Emma was found by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions, she and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first film appearance coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The film broke records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs as well as being the most-grossing feature in 2001. It was highly acclaimed by experts, and also by the performance of three new starlets. The highly distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable. Emma got five nominations in recognition of her impressive performance. Later, she won the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actresses of the Film.
